Starting Velvet treatment today

So I just found at that the formalin isn't going to be here until next week, but I should have the chloroquine later today. My clown seemed a bit agitated this morning, would it be bad to skip the formalin bath and go straight from a freshwater dip into the hospital tank with the chloroquine?

So I have the last two fish in QT now, the pink bar died in QT, it was like a stick, so thin. Anyway, the clown seems normal, I haven't seen either eat yet, but the wrasse is breathing really rapidly. It's been going in for a couple days now. Any insights? Thoughts?

Chloroquin phosphate is really bitter in the fishes mouth. Try pointing a power head towards the water surface to get a little more oxygen.

The filter I'm using in the QT has a venturi valve to oxygenate the water, do you think I need more?

If you your fish have velvet, and you have them in a separate tank, the best thing to use is copper. Just makes sure you have a good test kit.

Well I lost the battle...everything is gone.

I checked on the final two this morning and they were both breathing heavy. I also noticed a strange smell coming from the water, it was a mildewy smell and the water was getting a bit cloudy. Not sure what that was about. I tested the pH - 7.8, nitrites were 0 and ammonia was 0 as well.

I attached a picture of the clown. It was kind of weird, the white areas of the skin were losing their whiteness, they were a bit more reddish.

So ****ed off right now..not sure what I should do. Things run through my head like what if it wasn't velvet? Should I throw a fish or two back in the tank and see what happens? Leave it fallow just in case?

@marrone, I read many reviews, and been told a friend who's a vet, that while copper does work, the chloroquine diphosphate is much more effective for treating the parasites.

Sorry for your loss, but sounds like you had velvet. When I heard you said the heavy breathing and not eating. Your chances are not good. Velvet attacks fast when not treated or diagnose right away.

I wouldn't rush too add fish again wait let the tank settle it should run fallow for a while gotta check how long

If it was velvet, you were gonna lose most of the fish anyways. I only had 1 fish make it through velvet.
