Unfortunately I'm not able to have a sump on my 75g reef, so I'm in need of an ATO unit that can go in the DT. I have a Tunze Osmolator on my 15g QT, and I like it a lot, but I'm not sure I'd be able to place the Osmolator high enough in the 75g so that the water line doesn't show. I definitely see some water line in the 15g and the Osmolator is installed as high as it can go. Granted a 75g offers an extra 1/2" of trim, but I wanted to check and see if there were any options that might be better. I've heard good things about the Avast Marine ATO, but in order to use that in its safest version, you use a backup float valve on it, which I'm not wild about seeing in my DT.

Any suggestions or tips?

I've had the smart ato since it came out. I like it a lot except when my ato is empty. Doesn't stop playing the fur Elise which pisses my dog off.
