I've read that phosban cakes easily and requires a reactor.

If that is the case, am I better off putting phosguard in a bag instead of phosban in a bag?

I don't want to deal with a reactor right now and if I can get similar results from phosguard in a bag then I rather go that route.

I've got a really bad hair algae outbreak and some bubble algae too. Phosphates are high. Other parameters are acceptable.

If no reactor, Phosguard in a bag in high flow works.

Some may have concerns as Phosguard is aluminum oxide. You can Google for RFH's testing and people's experiences. Personally, I ran it in a reactor/filter bag for a year without any issues. It's pretty aggressive, so would recommend you to start with a smaller amount than suggested by Seachem.

Yes, that's how I interpreted it as well. I ran it, no problems. I like the fact that the Phosguard pellets change color, so I know when it's exhausted.

I used another product identical to it but cheaper. Aluminum base as well, will let you know if the name hits me.
