I use selcon and vitichem when feeding frozen food. With pellets I just assume that all the needed supplements are there. I use garlic once in a while. Maybe once a month. There is some debate on how good it really is for fish. I try to stay away from it.

I mean everyone has their own preference and things are said about everything. I haven't had a problem with garlic so I'm not going to talk bad about adding It. It's personal preference and what you feel is right I believe.

I said it is debatable which it is. I have no idea if it is positive, negative or neutral effect. The main concern about using garlic is that the fish can't break down the lipids. This causes fat deposits which cause long term effects. You won't see negative effects right away but it may cause problems in the long term. Just like humans eating a lot of saturated fats or smoking. It takes time until the negative effects take place.

Yes it's a personal preference if you feed garlic or not. Just because you feel it's right doesn't mean it is. There are many studies that show that garlic has negative effects on the health of marine fish. I am not saying garlic is good or bad but he should look into it a little further himself. I use garlic once in a while and I feed my fish NLS which has garlic. It's not like I am anti garlic. I just realize that it may have negative effects on my fish and very few questionable benefits. The benefits from it doesn't outweigh the possible consequences. Garlic is great to get fish to eat. My fish eat so it's not a big deal to me.

I add Kent garlic and vitamin C to a squirt bottle with several frozen foods and RODI water and use that for 3-4 days at a time.
Selcon is only used once a month to rehydrate krill which I feed to nems.

I don't use anything on food for a couple of reasons. First off I don't think it does anything and if you put any suppliment on any wet food such as frozen, it just washes off as soon as it hits the water so you are wasting your money. I realize a lot of people don't mind wasting money so it is what it is. The second reason I don't use any additives is that I feed live foods such as blackworms and they are much healthier like they are than Selcon or garlic which I think is a really worthless additive. The other food I feed is clams and they have everything fish need which is why all my paired fish spawn.
If I were to feed pellets as I sometimes do for certain animals I put some fish oil on them. Fish oil soaks in and makes pellets, which are not the best food, much better. The fish oil does not fall off the food in the water. :Blurp:

I use Selcon sometimes, but haven't added any extras recently as I feel it's not necessary. I agree with Paul, I feel it just washes off when it hits the water anyway, however on the bottle it states filter feeders and inverts can benefit from this product for several hours.
