ok I just plumbed my frag tank to my 220. The frag tank is 10" deep. I dont have a par-meter and I wanted to know how many inches should my 4 bulb T5 fixture be raised above the frag tank. I plan to put sps frags inside.

I have a 4 bulb T5 fixture about a foot above the frag rack, so what you have there seems good. I've also had acros (specifically blue slimmer) that needed to be less than 6" from the light, otherwise they didn't grow.

So what you can do is set your rack to be 2 or 3 different tiers, one at the bottom, one at the water level and one at mid level. You'll figure out what corals grow/color best at which depth.

I'm not sure how you set the water flow (unidirectional or circular) in there, but the water needs to move pretty fast, like a foot/second for SPS. so you can place a plastic wall in the middle either horizontally or vertically, and use a powerhead to blow the water in a circular motion around this wall. If you set up tiers, you can place a plane of plastic right below the rack and cause a convection like current, or if vertical, a tornado like spin.

good idea about making it 2/3 tiers. Im about to build the legs for the light now and make some levels. I just bought a wp25. I hope thats enough for it. I do have a nano pump in the draw if I need to add it. Thanks for the advice
