Picked up a lubbocks wrasse. Have him quarantined with copper. Now doing some research online, I've come across hundreds of different opinions on "how to". Everything from not to because they are timid/delicate; they dont tolerate copper well and the other side saying quarantine everything and it'll be fine. Any personal experience with this species?

Do you normally qt your fish? If so what is your method. I agree with Albano, but some people feel qt needs to have some medication. In that instance I would use prazi not copper as pecan said they are more prone to flukes not ick as readily

When I first started the tank a year and a half ago I didnt and was lucky. I qt a tomini tang successfully. Just yesterday I purchased a royal grammar and a lubbocks and dosed copper. So here I am. And like I said I was just looking online and read a whole bunch of different opinions on the matter. And so far this thread follows suit.

In my experience most wrasses in the genus Paracheilinus (flasher) do not tolerate copper well. I agree with pecan2phat (how are you Warren) that rarely do wrasses bring ich into the tank but using prazi-pro for flukes is a good idea. Wrasses that get die usually succumb
to bacterial infections. HTH

That's up to you. I'm sure you read that dosing copper if not done properly can be problematic and/or useless
Everyone has own way of doing the qt thing if they even do it. As with everything else in the hobby, so some things are difficult to get specific way or correct way of doing it. Do you plan in getting tangs or delicate fish in future that may require copper in qt then keep it up and learn as you go. I give you credit for trying. As I have never used copper before for fear of messing it up

Thank you. I've qt a tomini tang successfully with copper as I know tangs are prone with ich probs. So I figured from now on whatever fish I get gets qt. Not taking any chances anymore. This hobby is too expensive to have my whole stock wiped out from disease. But like I said from doing research that wrasses dont do well with copper. And a separate qt tank for the lubbocks with the other mentioned meds is not an option. Its either copper or into the display.
