i never try (so far) but i will, the new product seems to me, like, they find a solution to hold the bacteria ( inside the reactor ) little longer than normal, give the chance for Bacteria , to stay longer time in your Reactor, not just to be blow a way all over ( Protein Skimmer intake ,sump, main tank etc.) i assume the NEW material is more porous hold Bacteria and melt the Carbon in same time, in anther way, more effective, make sense, i like better Biopellets then Vodka or Vinegar, for some reason help to create more sponges ( water filters) , if you use a dif. brand , just to add i think will be OK. The main point is .....u need a good Protein Skimmer.

" The new All-in-One BioPellets has the phosphate mover build in allowing the bacteria to utilize it for growth and reproduction at the same place as their carbon source "

of course , may be Pro and Cons about , "All in one" time will be the ans. if u NOT using Berlin Sock Filters ( i like 200 micro) that "new" material to hold Bacteria (porous, list i guess, i have to see it) may got clogged w/small detritus than may be less effective than regular Biopeletts .lol. i don't think , will be a bad idea to use some sponge or good strainer to prevent , Macro Algae ,detritus etc. to go inside the Reactor.

"In contrast to our ?old? Biopellets, we have observed that the All-In-One Biopellets work best with very high water flow. For example, a 700 liter tank with a fluidized filter containing 2 liter of All-In-One Biopellets already requires a minimal flow through of 2000-3000 l/h" c/p

they said ,need 2000-3000 l/h mean .....http://www.metric-conversions.org/volume/liters-to-us-liquid-gallons.htm

for u system (300 gal) u may need more then 2 liters........this pump , I think will work...........Taam ATA00769 Rio Hyperflow 14Hf Water Pump 840 Gph

I have been using a Reef Octopus
media reactor with standard pellets for a couple years that I modified by adding a 1/2" "T" and attached a Sicce 350 gph powerhead to recirculate and supplement the water already pumped in. Been in action for several months and working great with "all in one" pellets.

After trying dr tims pellets with there reactor I had no luck with them .
In a 48 hour period everything looked like deat was lurking in the tank.
A few years later I puchased a reef dynamics with there brand of pellots and had the same reaction in tank. Poss pellets arent for me and the reactor is on the shelf collecting dust.
At this time I have hooked up a system to the natureef but system is all home built on there principal .
Much easier to controll the nitrates and phosphates.
Good Luck

greg what is the nature reef?
i am running 2 kinds of pellets in the same reactor but i can't get nitrates below 32. thought it was because 2 different brands.
tank looks good, no algae problems.
i still have dragons breath if you want. lmk

Ed pass on dragons breath no biggie
Not to go into to much detail it's a seperate chamber that is dosed with there product and bring the nitrates to 0 . When it reaches 0 you flush the chamber with tank water and start over again. It's like a big science project. You controll all of it. There is also a phosphate additive to controll phosphates. They might delete this post as they arent a sponsor on here .If deleated you know how to get in touch with me.LOL

I'm not using it, i have no room and my nitrates are only 12ppm. But I think the concept is sound and I've been following that thread for a while. Then greg showed up and now I know who to bug when i one day need some of the bacteria :)

I almost had a crash well over 200 .
Had some mysterious death's fish and anemones
Not exactly shure of what happened thinking it was a mix of wild cought fish and tank raised
I have only started doing this going on my third cycle.
It takes some time for the bacteria to really kick in .
When it does you will be cycling 3 to 4 times a day keeping the system stable
most people will stop doing water changes keeping the system stable.
Phosphates are being controlled by lanthuimchloride at the moment.
Once the nitrates are stable the second part of the system can be added to the same chamber.
Dam it Inevo I can now finally call some one a lurker. LOL

Not a lurker, i posted on thread long before you came on :) unless you were the one lurking? Lol

Honestly though, it's a great thread, and it doesn't take much to make one, just need a container that will overflow back to the tank and you're in business.

Where did you get your methanol from? What did it cost?

I used to run sprint cars I hooked up with a old fellow racer
Not shure where there is a supplier
They have a company on that post where they first purchased in small amounts
Back in the day I had 55 gallon drums of the stuff
If more people are interested I will find a better connection
let me know if you need help
