What's the easiest way to eliminate these free white floating particles in my tank? Filter socks don't seem to work at all. I've been to and seen other members tanks and there tanks are almost see through like. I place filter socks on the drains and they seem to fill up overnight. 2 days top and there overflowing. Is there another micron size I should try?

If you're socks are filling up that fast, then keep changing them... I used to fill up every couple days, now I can go over a week to 10 days before they fill up. Keep changing them.

Also carbon will help once you get that back online.

Ok. That's what I will do. I will have to get some more filter socks. I have 6 now. Which size ones are you using or recommend? Carbon will definitely be back online as well as the rowaphos on Wednesday.

Try living up here in the mountains and power washing in the winter. You'd be lucky if your water hose connection would even turn on.
I am gonna try the filter socks again. Do you continuously run them or as needed? I am still gonna look for a vertex diatom filter. I hear they work wonders on keeping the water crystal clear and help eliminate the free floating particles as well as ich. Plus you only have to run it once a week. Sounds like a great little investment

From what I understand they're a lot of work...i always run with my socks except when I'm switching them. First 6 months with my diamond goby and water always had particles...now you'd think i run ozone its so clear

I hear that also and there bound to leak. But once you find and get that happy medium I hear they are great.
I have 4 gobies now. 2 small yellow watchman, 1 diamond goby, and 1 blue and pink goby forgot the name. The diamond goby is the one always sifting so you already know what he sifts out and what it looks like with all the particles.
Well I hope mine gets that clear real soon. I don't know how the socks will catch all the particles. Sometimes they look like they just hang out at the bottom and don't reach my overflows

I already have the wires for the reef angel and the jebaos. Was actually thinking about upgrading to the new ones. I haven't gotten around to ordering the water level thing from working so much and the kids sports, etc. you know when life calls. I really need to hurry up. I think that will help a lot with my stability issue. I still haven't found the perfect settings or placement of my pumps. Sometimes there too strong and blowing sand everywhere

More flow? I am already running a reeflo hammerhead gold pump and 2 jebaos wp-40's. I actually run them on w1 cause if not the sand is all over the place and the corals(torches,Duncan's,hammers, frogspawns) don't like all that flow too much. I have to find a happy medium somewhere. My tank is 240 but it's not the regular 72 inches long. Mine is 60 inches long by 36 wide

Yeah but the reeflo is pumping from the basement and does nothing to get detritus off the sandbed and rockwork. You should be blasting the rocks and sand bed before. a water change to help get rid of detritus. You might have too fine a sand. And i have two mp40 on my 65...it might not be an issue of more speed but you may need more pumps..
