Gently peeling at the base of it works most of the time. I had to remove some of the rock in my tank to brush off Xenia because it wouldn't peel off. I try to avoid brushing it off because I don't want to lose any of it.

Then I place it in a plastic bin with some rubble and netting/egg crate over it. Give it a couple days and it'll attach itself to rubble. If you leave floating somewhere in the tank, it's only a matter of time before it drifts away and attaches to some place in the tank you don't want it in.

That's what I was hoping to do. Thanks

you don't want to brush it or break it up to small pieces, they can start growing where ever they attach and you will have zenia growing every where.
try and keep it contained to an individual rock so you can remove it in the future to frag it.

My ex-wife liked it. I never wanted it. I got it down to one rock when I moved the tank and few stragglers. Trying to get rid of the Xenia so I don't have to look at it anymore. Without that rock it means that much more room for corals
