Last weekend I switched from my old lighting setup (2 x 400w 15k bulbs) to a new one (2 x 250w 10k bulbs plus atinics), and I've noticed that the right side of the tank is much yellower than the left. I've swaped around the bulbs and ballasts, and it's always the right side that is more yellow, so it's either the socket, or something wrong with the wiring from the disconnect to the socket (but it seems to be hooked up right). I'm fairly sure this is not simply an optical illusion. The bulbs have been running now for 70 hours or so, so they should be getting close to worn in. I'm using the old sockets, and in my old setup, I always thought the right side was a bit bluer with the 15k bulbs. This is making me suspect that perhaps there's something wrong with the socket itself. Can these things go bad?
