Help With BTA

Hey guys i bought a BTA last week.Took it about 10secs to plant its foot when i put in the tank and was open in minutes. It was doing well until 2 days when it over a few inchs, but now is not opening fulling and this morning the mouth is open. The tank is a 40B running for about 8 months now. Running Reefbreeders Photon 24 leds. Any help would be great! These are my water parameters.

NH3/NH4 - 0
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0
PH - 8.2
KH/ALk - 8.9
CA - 390
MG- 1230
Salinty 1.024

What is the tank temperature and Phosphate parameters? What are you running for filtration? What do you use to measure the salinity?

The first thing I'd recommend absent that information is to perform a water change. Maybe just 10-15% of the water should be fine.

Might be the temp. Other than that not much you can do.

Tank temp 78-80, PO 0-1ppm (all Salifert Test kits) , 20g Sump/Skimmer/Reactors, Refractometer for salinty. It is attached to a rock low in the tank. Its on a rock that i can move higher in the tank if that would help.

I would say low/med flow and light. Temp is fine

Unless it's a complete dead spot Id leave it

Its not dead spot it has good flow. I guess ill give it time and see what happens the mouth is not as open now.

If it is it was probably just purging herself...

They do that often.
In other words, they have to release what they have eaten... And that is the only place where things can come out of...

It looks much better today not fully open but, mouth is not gaping but not 100% closed. I moved my powerheads around to get more flow to it. Might try to give it alil mysis to see if it will take it.

I haven't had my bta for long, so I might be totally off...
Mine has done weird things with its mouth. Not for extended periods, and not so much clearly open. The mouth swells up and the body spreads out and flat, with wimpy tentacles. So I took a chance and figured if it's moving it's mouth, maybe it's hungry. I fed it, within an hour it looked great. It's happened a couple times.

Thanks tony i was gonna try and feed it today and see what happens. Its still looks ok no open mouth but no extension on the tentacles. The foot is still firmly attached and the body doesnt look all wrinkly like it did.
