Hey Everyone,

I have the Reef Octo Space Saver 220 skimmer, and Im unsure exactly how should i have it adjusted. Its been running for a month so Im pretty sure it has "Broken In". Is there way by turning the valve to figure out the best way to have it skim?

how many hours should i have my lights on? Currently I have it set from 3-11.

And feedings would be 3 times a day 2-3 hours apart from each feeding.

I don't have a phosban reactor, Im thinking of getting one however is there any reactors that are submersible that I can just stick in my sump?

Also what are the best snails for the typical brown algae on rocks? I think Mexican Turbos die quick, but I could be wrong.

If you have a fish only tank lighting isn't that important. Just keep a day/night cycle. Less light less algae. As your tank establishes maybe shorten the light cycle or light intensity if you can. It will prevent some of the new tank issues.

There are reactors that you can stick in your sump. You will need another pump if it is in your sump or not. No need too waste the space inside. You can also use a media bag and stick it your sump in a high flow area.

Snails just get a little of everything. Turbo snails should not die quickly.
