Need Help With My MH

I just receive my Luxcore and my 250w 20k Radium bulb in the mail today. I put the setting to 250hqi and the bulb didnt fire up. It lit up alil like it wanted to but then just went out. I turn the setting to regular 250w and the same problem. What could it be?

those are not hqi metal halide bulbs...

I'm pretty sure hqi bulbs are double ended.

gotcha, I also set it on the regular 250w.

That ballast is for a 400watt bulb, you can't put in a 250watt bulb.

i have the same ballasts,
mine has 4 settings 250/300 i think is for 250w radium/ 400/ super lumens.
i run mine on 250 with 250w phenix bulbs

and when you say you ran it on the 250hqi did you mean the 300w setting or did you put it on the super lumens setting?

the 300w is for the hqi 250w and the super lumens is for the 400hqi

Could be the bulb
If U have somebody with old bulb to borrow - u could check if it will fire up

Those selectable ballasts have different names on the same settings I think
250 HQI , 250 super lumens and 300W are all the same settings

+1 i have the same ballasts as mikec pic
i was told the 300w is for 250w radium.

so I guess my question is do anybody have a SE bulb that I can use to test my ballast??

Have you tried what edd said about the 300w setting for that bulb? Im not sure if you can damage the bulb by choosing the hqi initially.

I have one but I'm in Riverhead
That is the best way to test it , if the bulb won't fire you'll know is the ballast , if it does you'll know is the bulb

Actually I ran my 250w radium on the 400w super lumens setting for a few weeks by mistake and nothing happened to the bulb so I'm not sure what happened to yours?

put it on the 250 HQI setting and leave it on...been running them for a few years now and sometimes it takes awhile (5-20min or longer) for them to fire up a new bulb....I just changed out my bulbs and ballasts..I'm running Hamilton M80 HQIs and one bulb took about about 5 min and the other almost 20min the first time...now they fire up right away. I tried an old bulb to chcek my wiring and ballasts and the old bulbs fired up right away so I knew it was good.

There you go - patience is all we need some times , but I think Mike is up to something , it may take few minuets to fire up so give it a try

i left it on for 30min or more. Still not firing up. Marek I'll can come out to you tomorrow if you are free for that bulb
