a quote from a great reefer

IMO it's a great way to ruin your biological filtration. I vote no. Bigger tanks and or tanks with a decent amount rock, or very established tanks seem to get away with using it. It's the newer systems, or minimalist systems that seem to have major issues IME. Either way it's a poor way to rid the system of cyano and there's a very very good chance of it returning soon.

do not use a bandaid. Find the problem and fix it!

is this a newly established tank?.... if its in the few months range keep up with your water changes siphon as much red slime as you can and possibly start dosing special blend.. It will add beneficial bacteria to your system but smells horrible. :dead1:

how to get rid of red slime algae i have it in my sump

Since it is only in your sump; why not just empty it out, and give it a good cleaning? I would also scrub, and rinse what ever lr is in it.;)
That is the route I would take for starters. Then add a circulating pump to the sump to keep the water circulating a bit more then just the drains from the tank.

I have used Red Slime Remover in the past with no ill effects (over the course of some 15 years) with the exception of the ONE time I forgot to do the mandatory water change. I wouldn't use it for slime that is just in the sump.:usa1:

Just battled it in my display only things that I've found works is I took a mj1200 blew all the cyano /detritus off my rocks every bit then I use my scraper and try to get most of the cyano mats growing on the sand together so I can easily suck them out !
Start siphon with just the tubing no vacuum and I siphon all that red slime right out I usually siphon out a good amount of sand with it that I rinse and add back to tank if ur diligent u should start to beat it also I've found carbon dosing can add to cyano
