Toadstool dying?

I just got this leather combo a few hours ago, looked beautiful in the store, tentacles on the toadstool all extended and everything. I placed it high in the tank and it started to look limp and shrunken. Thinking maybe the light was a bit strong I went to move it down to the sand and as my finger touched the top of it, a chunk of it just disintegrated off the top left as you can see in the picture. Is it possible this thing could be disintegrating after only a few hours?

I have not had much luck with them, I also tried a few times and finally got one that took to the tank. Frustrating to say the least as it's a hardy coral. Good luck. I keep mine in moderate flow
