I will not place any names until I get further information but I would love to see what others would do in my place.

I placed an order for an item to be custom made and paid on Oct20/21.

The seller stated he would have the item made by the following weekend. Oct 25/27
Seller contacts me for additional information to make sure the specs are as desired. (awesome!)

Communication - nothing until I ask about if the item was possibly shipped.

11/2 - informed that the item would be shipped either Monday or Tuesday
A week goes by and looking at my door steps empty.

11/10 - I reach back out to the seller and was told something happened. Life happens and I gladly understood. Me and my sons were sick so I know where he was coming from.

11/14 - 3 weeks from payment and nothing. Mind you the seller has been posting in between those times (items for sale, etc) so I am slightly disappointed at this time.

I was not notified of any mishaps through this time frame so I don't really think it is a delay of the custom item being completed or else the above "notice of expected shipping" wouldn't have been said.

I personally plan to request a paypal refund tomorrow if no delivery receipt or tracking information is provided.

What would your next steps be?

BTW, this is not a popularity contest, etc. I just want advice on a situation that is exactly as shown above.

As a seller, I know when I sell something especially when necessary to ship. I tend to notify the buyer every step of the way. Either if I missed the expected delivery date or even once I see the item is shipped, I personally contact them to make sure everything is good. I then take a step further to make sure they had no problems x days after. Are you that meticulous or how often do you contact the buyer before/after shipping?

I would contact the seller one last time before asking for a refund and if I don't get a update I would just have PayPal refund the payment. I understand it's a custom item so it may take a little longer but if no updating and no response are being given to you then I would ask for refund if I was in your position.

So seller was able to reach back and has been sick. Like I said, life happens so hopefully my situation gets resolved without further delay.

I would still like to know what others tend to do since it probably isn't an off subject. I know I've had to deal with this with other vendors from online. A recent purchase from amazon by a PA vendor on NJReefers failed to send me my items in weeks. Then I got an excuse that the shipper was likely to blame.

How quickly do you exercise your buyer rights for quick and respectable shipping of your paid items? Have you ever had to go further than a refund? BBB? etc.
