Setting up my 29 cube all over again and I'm in the middle of a cycle. I wanted to post my rock work and get everyone's opinion.

I will be staggering them a little more, probably moving the large pile back a little and the small pile forward a little.

Compliments welcome, but seeking critiques and criticism that I am not thinking of. Thanks!

I like minimal. However, I think you can greatly improve your scape if you were to add a small third structure. Odd's look much better in shaping than evens in scapes such as yours. Do a quick search on Iwagumi Aquascapes, popular in the planted tank part of the hobby. I am looking forward to using that on any future builds of my own. It allows the tank to be meshed together rather than split into halves.

Looks like someone attended the seminar at the swap! LOL ! 5-3 rule in effect. I would say you will need more coral surface area and that the current setup might be lacking. Maybe larger diameter on the plates your stacking and yes the addition of a 3rd structure might help

I like it, but despite how nice it looks, I think you'll have a hard time placing corals because of a lack of horizontal/diagonal space.

What are you planning on keeping? If doing SPS, you're going to run out of room quickly. If doing softies, it might work since they're really good at reaching and look cool bending out for light. LPS would love that sand bed, but you'd still run into trouble with any of them that need rockwork to grow on.

IMO aquascaping mastery goes from practical and crappy --> beautiful and not practical --> beautiful and practical. Count me in group 1, but it works for me, and I've had success with my by-the-book lagoon setup before.

Thanks everyone. After looking up Iwagumi Aquascapes I nearly want to start a fresh water planted tank.

I will add a smaller third rock for either zoas or maybe gsp to give some color and motion.

I do plan to keep mostly SPS with some LPS. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but there is a lot of space for corals. The large structure is set up in tiers sloping backward and all overhangs are situated so shade is not cast to spots below. The rocks look smaller in the pics than in person. I also will try to utilized both side of the rock as light reaches there as well.

Thank you for the input and please keep it coming.
