I have had my RWs for a few months now and there are a few kinks. You can't put them on "feed" while in night mode or they will freeze up. I place my controller in feed mode and it doesn't come back on after 10 minutes.
I barely touch mine and that's why I don't care but definitely need to point out negatives before you here anything but positive remarks. Night mode is sensitive on one of them and the other pretty good until my lights actually turn off.
They are dead silent unless I have everything off then you can hear a buzz but nothing like a vortech.
For the price and not needing 100 features then they are great powerheads!
I set up the Rw20s this morning. Much more powerful then the WP60s I took out but definitely not overpowering when set up. I'm using them in a long alternating mode on about 75% power and they make a great wave action without blowing the tank around. I did set them on high when cleaning the tank to keep everything suspended and they practically cleaned the rock work on their own.
I really liked the WP60s but it seems that they bog down and lose alot of flow if not cleaned on a veru regular basis.
Like others, I found that they do not come out of "feed" mode by themselves. Other then that well worth the money. Fishstreet had a 15% off sale and they came within a week.
I am currently running 3 RW 8's on my sps dominant 65 gallon tank. I have not had the problems other posters had of the pumps coming out of feed mode. I plan on trying feed mode while the pumps are in night mode just to see if I have the same issue. The pumps produce great flow and there are plenty of options with flow patterns. The pumps are extremely quiet, and the wireless function is very easy to set up and works well. If you have an apex controller you can ditch the Jeabo control module and control the pumps via the apex variable speed ports. While the vortechs are awesome looking I couldn't justify spending the extra $$$ on them for my new build. I chose to get the new GHL wireless doser an apex and a skimz sm163 instead. I didn't go cheap on this new setup and I chose jeabos for my power heads. Just my .02
After testing, I found that the RWs don't come out of feed mode while in night mode. Even though my lights were on at the time it only happens at night. No problem during the day.
Yep that the only thing wrong with these rw pumps.. I feed at night and once light is of pumps don't go into feed mode.. So I have to turn light on then press feed mode then shut light off after the ten min feed time.. Annoying
I don't know how long others have had their RW pumps but this is the second time my speed indicator has stopped working. Restarting etc does not help. I had it off overnight because I forgot to plug it back in and still didn't come back.
If you buy then I'd suggest buying through ReefBreeders. They have covered warranty both times and VERY quick with responding to my emails about it going down.
I think the other place to buy them is fish-street or random places like ebay or amazon. Going through reefbreeders have been utterly top notch.
While looking into other options since they will likely keep going out and possibly after warranty, you can look into JBWave.
JBWave option looks awesome since there is a bluetooth/wireless option that you can use to adjust the pumps via an android device.
