I have a serious kalarpa take over n need to kill it n make my live rock dead rock. I boiled them n didnt seem to do much... And suggestions on the fastest way to kill it without damaging the rock to put ut back into my reef?
Get the biggest bottle of hydrogen peroxide you can, soak the rock in it 24hrs, scrub off dead caulerpa, rinse rocks in clean saltwater, put rock back in tank...if you want.
I'm more of a - let it sit in a bucket with an air pump, in the dark for a few weeks, till everything dies off. Then water change in the bucket till its odor free, then back into the tank. Actually air pump is optional if you have a garage and don't mind the smell. It will die off much faster.
Hmm, now that its winter, you can just put it in a bag, outside and let it freeze. Instant die off, then cure in a bucket with air pump.
Bleach, by all means. I've done it plenty of times, but you must make sure you let it completely dry out for a few days to get the bleach off. I've seen people use dechlorinator and have the tank back running the same day, but i've never tried it that way
Ive boiled them then let them sit out for a day in side, then a day n half outside then brought them in picked off the dead stuff then washed them n now lettin them dry again.... Idk if its enough i guess ill find out..... Next step is to buy all new rock n give the old away
How big is your tank? You should be able to find a natural remedy to your issue. If it's just caulerpa, did you try tangs and other highly herbivorous fish like rabbitfish/foxface.
What i did was arduous but it worked. Some of my rock is green now but that will go away eventually. What was good about this was i found beautiful tube worms on the opposite side of the rock i was able to save lol
