Hey Everyone,

Recently was making some call to see how much credit i can get for some fish and while calling checking on prices for blue hippo tang. One of the stores I called said they would give me the credit I want for the fish I have sale. Than I asked how much was there blue tangs and they said they have one. It is about 4-5 inches the only problem is he said that it is skinny and think he might have internal parasites...but the tempting offer is that they said they would give it to me FREE. The only thing that kind of motivated me was not only is he free but they said he eats very well, but I guess someone just brought him in. So I'm thinking of setting up for my 40 gallon breeder tank for him. Once i get him I guess I should medicate prazipro for 6 weeks. Anything else?

6 weeks seems a little long. Most people do it once or twice. I would follow the directions on the bottle.

Lol what I should of said is, I will follow the directions but he should be in quarantine for about 6 weeks right?

I did that with my bluefaceangel and cousins purple tang. Blueface went in the tang fully healthy than harassed to death...but the purple tang is doing great and looks great!

6 weeks is overkill with prazi. Two treatments should be sufficient. 5-7 day treatments with 3 day between. Make sure you have lots of fresh greens for the hippo to pick on. Finish the second prazi treatment and monitor for another couple of weeks to make sure it doesn't have any other issues.

If you feel it needs more time to fatten up before going into he display, take more time.

UPDATE:

Hey everyone, well after going to the store and recieve credit for my fish. I than asked about the sick tang, where they had it stored away from the public. This tang was way bigger than what I was told on the phone. The tang is probably 6-7 inches looks and since i have 3 inch pvc pipes in the QT he is about 3 inches high. He has scrapes/scarring on his face I assume its HLLE. He also loks some what pale. Also Im not sure how can you tell if a tang is skinny lol Ive never had a fish this big, along his spine top half looks very fat probably an inch thick, but he then slims down a lot as you go down his body towards his vent. He is up to his second treatment of Prazi Pro...should this be the last treatment for worms or should I add another dose this friday which would be three days after treatment according to the bottle? He is getting more active, instead of sitting behind a pvc pipe, laid flat all day. He is eatting mysid shrimps no problem and nori sheets...but everything at a slow, skittish and sluggish pace.

He is in a 40 gallon breeder with pvc pipes, sponge filter and a heater set at 80. I feed him mysid once a day usually but I place a folded one inch by one inch nori sheet twice a day. Should I increase the feeding? THe mysid are dipped in selcon, should i purchase garlic med as well for dipping the mysid... i could do one day garlic..one day selcon.

Most importantly, I dont have a filter on it besides the sponge filter but i do have an AC 70 should i placed that on t with just sponges and I guess some rocks that is in my DT sumps in the filter? I havent yet did a water change on the quarentine tank...should i do water changes?

Sorry gots lots of questions for this tang..want to make sure he pulls a full recovery
