Why blame the bio-balls for nitrate problems

is it true bio ball produce nitrate. its been a debate for this couple years.
i found an articile about it.

Bacteria is responsible for the nitrate conversions. The bioballs are simply a highly condusive surface area for the nitrogen loving bacteria to colonize on, and exchange waste products rapidly into Nitrates.
there are other Anoxic Bacteria that like to convert nitrates into Nitrogen gas. They need a far larger surface area for a colony of them to keep up with the bioballs oxygen rich area and fast turnover rate.

hence why TOO MUCH overload is not good..... and throws harmony out of balance (Cyclicly speaking)


I rarely use bioballs in a system anymore.
