Hey guys I'm new at the reeding hobby. I'm interested in the hobby and I finally have the money to start up a tank. I have a 75 rr tank. Just wanted to introduce myself. Is it true I can cycle my tank without my lights and protein skimmer just to get my water running and ready to go?

Yes, keep it dark and keep water moving and heated correct. This will start the cycle and start to get you seasoned for the road ahead. Nothing else is really need atm, just a lot of patients. Start with FOWLR and work from there

you can add a raw table shrimp a in stocking to help with the cycle. when you detect high ammonia remove the shrimp.

Thanks for you support everyone. Soooo excited to start my tank up but I feel like I should've went with a 100 gallon instead of 75. Any opinions on that?

You will feel the same way at 100g. 75g is a great start in my opinion.

when i started my 300 I ran it for 8 weeks before I put any thing in. it was hard to look at it empty each day but in the end it was well worth the time. fish al did well an it was not long before I was able to add some corals
