Changing sand

I currently have around 2-3 inche's of black sand in my display tank. I would like to take out the black samd and replace it with brand new clean white sand. What is the easiest and safest way of doing this without causing my tank to crash? Thanks in advance

imo a little at a time if you do it all at once you may cause a new cycle

I would get a 1" siphon hose and take a small amount of existing sand out over a 4-6 week period when doing water changes.
While replacing with new sand at the same time until it is complete.
