my tank parameters are 1320 mag 11.8 alk 350 cal 7.93 PH I'm trying to grow more coraline algae & i am looking for pro suggestions. led lights blue on 9-9 white 12-7pm
Yes I have a few pieces but I don't see any new growth. I just add some calcium today and will test tomorrow but I read that the dkh should be between 7-12 . What will high alkaline do to my tank
keep alk between 8-9.... Its a safe happy area for it to be . Btw coraline algae takes some time to grow after crushing it up and adding it to your tank .
I had a bad affect when my alk climbed to 11dkh. As i said i usually keep it between 8-9. I scrapped all the coraline of the back glass and it hasn't grown back till now a month or 2 later and making sure alk was steady at 8-9 and cal was steady in the low 400's... All of our tanks have different requirements.
Yes agreeing here you calcium is low and alk way high, bring them into balance suggested above and you'll get the growth. It won't happen right under current conditions.
Need more info are you dosing? If so what and how much? Alk is high and Cal is low. Ok, you need to introduced coraline algea from LR or another tank. Once you have some in your tank. Best to shut filters and skimmer off. And scrape Coraline algae so it will spread.
I was scared to turn off skimmer trying to keep nutritent low. I'm using two fish 2 part but I guess that I will have to make a batch of baking soda to bring alkaline down
Today was the first day I tested these things so I just wanted to relay what was going on and get feedback. I had a fowler always but now I'm strictly reef
