You were burned, everyone thinks LPS is "easy" to keep when they really mean "easier".

LPS needs dirtier water with low flow and low light, SPS needs the opposite.

IMO the mixed reef is the hardest to keep because all of the coral isn't a 100% happy.

They usually can pull back on the skeleton but that looks like it was ripped off of the skeleton, and that doesn't look good. Most corals like this are pretty tough. Just leave it on the bottom, in a low flow area, some of it's still attached to the skeleton, and as long as the mouth is OK, some part of it may survive.

Looks like it was exposed to high flow. I would recommend keeping it in a low flow area. Also IME these corals benefit from feeding meaty foods such as scallop and clams. It helps to feed the tank well at the same time and stand guard with a piece of stiff airline tubing or something similar to deter fish and shrimp from stealing the meal before it is consumed.

You can feed it anything.

These corals are some of these most temperamental out there. I have gone through three with the same issues. It's a win or lose situation. They mostly only do well in tanks dedicated to meat corals or corals of similar traits ( scolys). I service tanks all around the city and they almost never live either. I suggest staying away from them. I have always wanted them myself but it's a double edge sword. Also my clown fish have actually killed them as well. So watch your fish.
