So I decided to set up my 45 gallon marineland cube tank its 24/24 by 19 high I have glass hole 1500 gph overflow kit that I'm not sure I want to use. I think I want to make it an all in one tank but I would need to have have it custom made any suggestions?

I have used a gh kit before, I could be wrong but that kit maybe too much for that tank. Could you use a tradition hob overflow kit instead?

I prefer the sump to hide everything in, makes for a cleaner look in my opinion

Yes your right it is too big for that tank I originally bought it for a 90 gallon but I diddent use it instead of drilling 2 holes I was only going to drill one and have a larger skimmer surface with the bigger kit and have one or 2 3/4 returns on either side might be overkill any suggestions would be helpful or should I just get another smaller overflow?

I would keep what you have. The gph is not going to push over what your return throws at it. I trust a drilled tank more than hob overflows unless it is lifereef.

I had a 45marineland and it was one of the best tanks overall. Bayondai - who has it now has it up and running for his son and it is a beauty.

Aio just takes away from possible water volume, space and you Will end up wishing you had a sump to make for a cleaner display.

My 2cents.

I have never used a hang on overflow, and I agree that aio would take away from the tank as you would be taking up some of the footprint to hide the equipment.
A smaller gh kit won't be as much, I'd look here for one night get lucky. Is the bottom tempered? If not you can have drilled or still yourself and create your own overflow section. Doesn't need to be hidden, but you could do with some acrylic if desired
