Not long ago, I heard someone say they rotate the burden of carring between male and females, so it's hard to tell which is female of male.

To confuse the matter more, I have this situation, I have 6 cleaner shrimps, recently, 5 of them carry eggs only one does not. I wonder whether they would even share the same batch between the pair or just that the five that are carrying eggs are super hard working.

All cleaner shrimp produce both eggs and sperm....just not at the same time. They are broadcast spawners; the egg carriers disperse their eggs, usually after dark, while the sperm carriers fertilize those eggs via the water column. During the next breeding cycle, roles will be exchanged.
