Has anyone had issues with the markings coming off of the salifert syringes? I recently started using some salifert kits I bought and the markings on the syringes are coming right off just from handling them. I have stripped off the markings of Red Sea kits accidentally by cleaning them with vinegar. After that mishap I simply rinse the syringes and vials after use. I believe the good people at BRS are going to send me replacement kits (thanks guys). But I am at a loss for how this happened and I want to prevent it from happening to the new ones.

On a side note I have to say that I find the salifert syringes to be much more accurate than the Red Sea. I always had issues with the gap between the reagent and the plunger with Red Sea. It would usually draw between .80 and .83. It seems that each time I draw up with the salifert syringes I almost always draw .85 which is right where it should be given the space in the tip,

Anyway I'm curious to hear what others on here have experienced.

When i clean mine, I just suck up the vinegar - water I use to soak the vials a few times then ro/di a few more times. No liquid on out side.

Dismantle to dry.

I also find issue w/red sea, although I find the amount of pressure you use to draw the liquid makes that difference.

A longer / slower draw of the liquid with the same amount of pressure every time makes it more consistent.

I have the same issue. i just get new ones from work (work for a lab). I clean mine out under the faucet every time. I just rinse it with regular water and wipe it down. Yeah, I saw people saying it is going to scratch the glass. Damn if it is that sensitive, what are you wiping your tank with?

Email them and explain the situation. They will send you new syringes ;)

I decided to try to contact Salifert and interestingly enough their web page does not include contact info. A web search revealed that it is apparently very difficult to get customer support from them. Apparently there is some guy named Habib who runs the show here in North America. Im trying to find better info. At a time like this I am very happy to be dealing with BRS. They have provided me stellar customer service whenever something was not right with my purchase.
