Looking to reduce algae growth. Been getting that red cotton candy algae lately ands its getting kinda aggressive. I ran Hanna checker the egg one and got. .27 .12 .04 on three back to back test. I finally got my tank past the low nutrient starvation state. I'm Leary of gfo since this was my problem in the first place user error on my part. Can I use a algae scrubber to compete with the algae and not strip my nutrients I don't want my nitrate zero and don't trust the Hanna so I don't wanna run gfo and strip the tank. Besides clean up crew how can I stop this algae

My nitrate is steady around 4 ppm on red sea. Coral is doing good except for one stubborn cap which is taking forever to color up but has more color than it had in a while. Growth is so so . but I didn't lower fixture yet . I want them to have more color and have it for some time before I start lowering the fixture. Overall I would say its OK but that's a comparison to tanks like yours and others like that.
