Star Polyps and Hermit crabs

I had well established star polyps on my tank. For the past four days I could see the number of polyps opening getting reduced. Yesterday night I could see my big Blue leg Hermit Crab working on it. What do you guys think? Will Hermit eat Green star Polyps? Is that is the reason my star polyps getting reduced? I had more than five square inch of star Polyps. Any thoughts?

It is possible, not all hermits are reef safe. Are you sure its a regular Blue Legged Hermit Crab? They're generally not 'big'

When I got it from my lfs two years back they said it is blue leg hermit crab. It is really big.

maybe it didnt get the stars try putting a power head on the stars for a day or so it worked for me!

ok... newbie question here... what does putting a powerhead on the GSP do? I have a small patch, that I have been keeping since they were a 1/2" x 1/2" fragment, it is growing but somehow lately it is not as bright as before.
