Quiet return pump?

I have a Mag 5 return pump right now and it's a bit on the noisy side. I tried replacing the impeller and also making sure it's not making contact with anything in the return chamber of my sump, but it can still be a bit annoying.

Does anyone have suggestions for a new pump, preferably something on the quieter side? Something with a 1/2" threaded outlet similar to the Mag 5 would be good (so I can use it with my existing plumbing).

Try out of the Eheim pumps, as they're very quiet and last forever.

Sicce makes a non dc pump that you can dial back from the pump. They are nice and quiet.

i really like the sicce 1 in my skimmer, and just got 1.5 sicce for return but didn't hook it up yet. youtube did comparison to standard mag drive pumps and the difference in sound was pretty stark.

I have a reef octopus 5500 which you cant even tell its on unless u touch it
but outlet is 1 1/2 inch

I had a sicce and hated it...made a low pitch vibration that drove me nuts. Now I'm on to a waveline DC pump and I LOVE it!! So much easier to dial in flow as well. Super quiet and easy to clean.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I ultimately went with an Eheim 1250. Very different in terms of noise, a lot quieter than the Mag. Happy so far, thanks for all your suggestions!

I'm currently using Deep Blue's Triton 3 and it is pretty quiet. I've used the Triton 4 and it was also very quiet.

good choice on Eheim... Great pumps
