Does anyone have any tips on removing an anemone from a piece of live rock? I have a Rose Bubble tip that has split for a second time and I would like to remove one of them to trade. It is attached to the main rock work of my tank and I can't easily remove the rock.

Try to point a powerhead at it and it might move or try to gently scrap it off the rock with a credit card. Try to get under the foot and peel it off.

Thank you for the responses. I will aim a power head at it tonight. I was thinking about putting the open end of a pvc pipe over it and seeing if it would try to "walk" out of it and then I could catch him on the move. Thoughts?

Interesting thought. from my experience with anemones it will just stretch its foot to reach the end of the PVC... assuming you are going to use a pvc 6" long or less. But it may be worth a shot.

Ice never worked for me, strong flow works, one time i went to break the rock in half and when i hit the rock with a hammer the nem did not like the vibrations on the rock and immediately let go.
I took the rock out and put it in the sink to try and hammer it in half...

IME, all the above ice, strong current and vibration have worked before for me as long as your patient usually when you massage some ice on its foot and try peeling it at the same time with your finger the nem can try to move and weakened a lil and you get lucky, i would usually take it out the water to do so just give it a lil dip every now and then, good luck.
