I like to know how many of us Hobbyists like the new breeds of clownfish. It seems every so often I see I new type of clownfish. Are they pretty and are they worth the extra price. How long is they life expectancy? More I look at them I notice more deformity. Are we going to far with these fish. It has it good points and bad points. Would like to hear your opinion and if possible post your picture of your good looking clownfish.

I'm not liking the new long fin clowns at all, I personally think they went to far with breeding and designing and they are almost mutants. There fins remind me of fresh water guppies and I can already see them getting picked on and harassed by there tank mates. Shame on SA for deforming such a beautiful fish just to make a quick buck. My two cents

A vendor is selling a pair for $600 for a fish that looks like his fins got caught in a blender. Awful

You'd have to give me $600 to put such an ugly fish in my tank lol. For the record they shouldn't be called clownfish, changing the color or pattern is one thing but changing the entire design that Mother Nature created is like a thing of Frankenstein, no words to describe how wrong it truly is IMO.

The way i see as long as we don't take from sea its ok everybody has there own choice of clowns i personally like the new types . Wyoming whites and nuggets , bullet holes , onyx lol i guess im just a clown fan..

But the oceans are really dying i remember 25 yrs ago scuba diving and seeing corals every where now went back to same places and its a dead desert of rock and sand .. What a shame ...something is really off in ocean global warming or who knows.

thats why i believe we need to grow and buy only harvested corals and even fish ..

Im actually trying to breed clowns ive collected various pairs and have contained in separate bins where they are well feed and perfect conditions hopefully i will have babies one day

I believe if things continue to get worst our tanks maybe the only fish and corals one day ...

Piranhapat yes saw that clown with messed up fins agree doesn't look to good ..

But many of the others are ok . Especially the link from reefsta incredible what can be done .. But hopefully we keep the original species also for breeding or else it might get lost .
