Any difference in RODI

I wanted to get a new rodi. Filters direct has one with a built in tds and booster pump. On other aquarium sites the same type of rodi sells for over 400. Is there really a difference?

As long as it makes 0 TDS water its fine and nothing different from "reef" ones

There is not. It has to do with the key words, "aquarium or reef". $$
I run a basic spectrapure. Works just fine.

I see many one this forum, good price, BRS products very good, strongly suggest to buy a booster pump and pressure switch (extend the membrane life +works more efficient, reduce waste) . Also BRS sale membrane upgrade.

I use air water ice typhoon extreme 150 . Filters are good, price great, and it has worked flawlessly for me. I seen brs and spectra pure rodi in person that my buddies have, so i can attest for their quality as sell.

Years ago before the "reef or aquarium" RO units came out I used an undersink Sears model and worked fine ... 0 is 0 they re all the same except for the filter micron ratings and the quality of the membranes.

Duke I just want to know why they all have about the same rejection rate. For me it's all about the filters that are in the unit. Are they a high grade carbon and di. There are so many out there like additives for our tank. If every company that needed to make ro water used these units they are also pouring this much water down the drain. I think there should be better standards in this hobby. Zero mean nothing to me if you still get nitrates and phosphates as a end product. I need to run 3 di cartridges to get zero phosphates. Check your incoming water and based on that determine which unit might be best to suit your needs .

when your talking about units with booster pumps and auto shut off, etc, i dont think their all equal. quality of pump, electronics and filter quality all matter.
i have an aquatic life power unit with 2 membranes for less rejection and more water. it makes alot of water fast [i got it when i had a 300] but wipes out the DI fast.

Ed I also have two membranes , IMO that doesn't reduce the amount of waste . My main unit is Air Water Ice . Di gets exhausted quick IMO because they aren't selling a high quality di. The company that starts with S blew plenty of smoke up my you know what. They stated there one to one unit had better internals (valves) and I cannot have 2.5 ppm of po4 coming out of the tap . I must be reading my tank water . What a joke.

greg, they do claim less rejection and i can say i noticed my rejection is a trickle compared to my air water ice unit that has a steady stream. but i think the awi gives cleaner water for a longer time. i might sell the aquatic life and stay with what works best if i set up my 120.

Just let's take in consideration the TDS before any RO/DI, if you got 180 is something if you got 45 is dif. NO name (china) E-bay that the one to stay a way.

you can put the best filters in a cheep unit, get good results, now put cheep filters in an expensive unit you wont.

Its all about the filters.

Not really , good filters on cheap system (unit) , leak (in special , when use booster pump).
