So I've burned the last 2 batches of SPS to LEDs,
Currently using 3W Crees LEDs and had blues at 100% and whites at 75%
Using 2 x 120W fixtures, each with 24 blues and 24 mixed LEDs = 96 total LEDs with 240W total at 100%. over my 3 foot, 65 gallon tank.
Compared to my old 200W T5 fixture, I assumed I was just bumping it up a notch, but I see now I bumped the lighting up WAY higher than my SPS could handle and I calculated my numbers thinking all watts were equal (blues at 100%=120W and whites at 75%=90W equals 210W in total)
When I first replaced the T5 fixture with LEDs, I was too conservative and slow with the light increase per week that half my corals died out. Now I'm increasing them too fast.
What is your acclimation schedule (time frame and percentage light increase) when you place new SPS or LPS for that matter?
for example, should I start with blues and whites at 25% for a week, then 50% for week 2, etc?
