I use my manifold to feed my 40 breeder fuge, the only time I throw a powerhead on is if I want to mix up some stuff when doing a water change.

I didnt run a filter sock on the exit of my fuge, it feeds right into my return chamber for my pump. Why filter out from the fuge when it'll have good pods and other things you want to be in the display? Seems silly

Definitely, you need water to move around, NO matter what, you can use a power head pump (w/strainer, to avoid extra Detritus build up, sponge strainer etc.) tide to PVC pipe, to distributive some water in , then return by gravity. That what i have in Rubbermaid? Brute? Container (33 Gal. refuge, 6"-7" deep sand + Rocks and Macro).

I have a cheap $10 lamp from homedepot. Works good for me. I'm going to feed the tank from my manifold and use a small power head for water movement. Only problem now is Im having a hard time trying to fit it in my stand, lol.
