Advice on supporting a Canopy

I recently picked up 2 MarsAqua Led's and love the color of them but the power cords are the worse. Im now thinking of making a canopy but don't want to hang it by the ceiling or the wall. I cant find any examples of people mounting canopies from the back of the stand with brackets (wood/metal/ex,,). Does any1 have any advice for mounting a canopy from the back of the stand? what type of material would be best to use that wouldn't bend supporting the canopy?

i think most canopies rest on the tank rim, both of mine did.

If not too heavy you can bend electrical conduit and hang it from there

Forgot to mention it's a rimless tank and I like the look of the edge. I think conduit will bend supporting a wood canopy. I think I'm going to have to use metal brackets because I want the support to come entirely from the back with no obstruction of the view from the sides and the front.

I'm really trying to avoid the ceiling and the walls. I rent and don't want to hear the landlords mouth about anything.

Get thin wire and hang the canopy from the ceiling. When you move out of the apt it's a easy fix with a tiny but of spackle and a drop of paint. Just like hanging a picture on a wall

Just make sure you tap into a stud!
