MH height

Hey guys recently i set up a small 12 gallon frag tank. Im new to MH ligthing and just wondering if i could get some advice. Right now the light is hanging about 11" from the water line just wondering if i should lower it or raise it.

quick question... how is that odyssea light? Saw the price point is crazy low.

whats the height on the frag tank? Is it the 12" dimension? I would say maybe start the light about 16-20" above the water level and see how coral reacts. Work your way down to a minimum of about 12" (which i personally would be to close, but go with what your corals tell you)

I used to run 250 watt DE bulbs over a 24" tall tank and i had the lights about 12" over the water level and I was able to grow pretty much anything anywhere.

It's not a bad light imo. I have an older version I bought here on MR. My only issue with it is that there is no cooling fans on the unit at all. Yes the tank height is 12".
