Salinity meter

So I got a apex salinity meter today. Set the bad boy up but here is my issue let me know what ya think. I calibrated the probe and when I put it in the solution it comes up with 35ppm when I put it in the tank it comes up with 40.1. When I use the refractometer it comes up as 1.027 and I checked the refractometer with the solution and it comes up 1.025. So why does the probe read 40.1 which is 1.03 and the ref read 1.027??

something is off. Either the probe or the refracto. my guess would be it's something apex related.

I did a water change today and now they are both reading the same.makes no sense I know but at least they are reading the same.

Make a gallon of water using the weight listed on the bucket of salt and see what you get with refract and probe

Ive been having issues with my apex salinity(cond) probe since I got it. I just use my milwaukee digital refractometer.

I let it sit for a few days and then I dipped it back in 35 ppt solution the meters ready 35 on the nose I then stuck it back in tank and it went to 37.5 which is the same that the refractometer was reading so it looks like it's working good now

The cond probe and the orp probes are very sensitive to any power cord's around them. On my ghl if I unplug the power bar both the reading you speak of change. Thy aren't very reliable.

It's also necessary to ensure that the calibration solution is the same temp as the tank.
