Lets talk saltwater

I've been a strict Instant Ocean guy for years,, yet today I went and opened a container that I had made saltwater in that had ~20gal without a powerhead (it was sitting in a not-so-airtight brut) and it STUNK! whew I thought I had a litterbox in there. So as I proceeded to sanitize it I wondered maybe this salt isnt so good and I should go Red Sea.

Also, after all these years making RO/DI water, has anyone discovered what is the first thing, if its a "typical" thing, to pass the membranes and filters to give us that .001 reading?

I think this has less to do with the type of salt and more to do with the lack of flow. If you take just regular rodi water and put it in a "not so air tight" container without a powerhead, it will get a stank.

Yes, but do different salts stink more or less?
