curious to how oftern to feed and such

ok i have a 29g high tank with a hob ref crp. skimmer also not sure of brand, 2 zoo med rotating powerheads.run this light 12 hr's a day a current compact lighting with 10k 65k split and dual antic with built in moon lights. i also have to blue moon lights. over the ref i have a coralife compact that runs 24\7. 2 damsels a huge algea blenny. 8 turbo snails 3 mexican snails, a fiddler crab. a red crab.{ looks like Mr Crab} from sponge bob. 2 pepperment shrimp. a sand sifting start fish. about 50 lb's of live rock in tank and about 10 lb's in refugium. as well as live sand and agronite mix in ref amd a bag of small bio rocks. 20 lb's of live sand in tank and 20 lb's of white sand in tank. these are the things i use. i feed fish freeze dried mini krill, mysis shrimp. brine shrimp. and occasionally marine pellets. i use half dose of purple up once a week, 1\2 dose of seachem reef iodine once a week, 1\2 dose of seachem calcium once a week. also feed phytoplex and zooplex once a week. my question is should i use any of these more or less or not at all. { rock in tank is from 2-7 yr's old} bought set-up from friends 110g set-up. anenome's and ect have been purchased since. my tank has been running for 2 months. here is some pic's of things in tank

oh and i have 4 blue crabs and 4 red leg crabs and use a ro unit from petsmart to clean water

the film on top of the water look pretty dirty, as well as the clarity of the tank. and sand. my advice is a few pellets every other day. as for the anemone, get a pair of chop sticks and feed a piece of krill or shrimp once a week. plus the size of your tank is small, so it cant handle over feeding as well as say a large tank would. stop with the phytoflex, an zoo plex. you dont have enough filter feeders in there, and they mainly just dirty your water. if you want your corals to grow, proper maintainence/setup over feeding is by far a greater prerequisite for success. dont listen to the descriptions in the magazines of the products, they exagerate and are often outdated.

You need some way to skim that surface. Thats where most of the organics will end up. Like an overflow box which will skim the surface.

Also, with all that surface film, it prevents oxygen exchange...

i agree with Ming, Any reef set up with out an over flow is asking for trouble. It if were you i would look for a ready ready tank (RR) and then purchase it. Then look to move my live stock out.

Just get a surface skimming box for the protein skimmer and you'll be fine, not all tanks HAVE to be reef ready I know some people who have great looking tanks and they have no overflows whatsoever internal or external.
