Gorgonian question

I found a gorgonian on the sea shore, I grabbed it put it in a container, and have been doing total water change twice a day. The gorgonian has polyp extension most of the time, but the water is getting cloudy and starting to smell even quickly after the water change. Is it worth a shot trying to take it back home? I intend to wrap it in moist tissue paper on the plane.

I'm not sure that it's legal to take certain 'marine life' in Florida, without a permit... Even those that 'washed up on shore'... Would suggest a little research

soft coral is not going to ship dry, plus with the odor, it's done for. Next time if you want to hedge your bet, cut a 1 or 2 inch piece of it, instead of a giant glob and store it in a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle, with spare bottles of clean water for daily changes, then you may have a chance of keeping it alive for a few days. An air pump and a waste paper basket, would've solved your problems long term.
