yeah, but i doubt you would say your anus to be your favorite of all body parts jhale. unless you have issues like that or are into that sorta thing......

what are you trying to say T

that did not even enter the list of organs in my mind.

I don't consider an RO unit an upgrade, so i'll still have to go with the auto-top off as the best reef gadget that has made my life easier.

I've always used RO water for my tank since my first 10 gallon reef. At first, it was going to the fish store to buy water by the gallons, after I hit a 40 gallon tank, I bought an RO unit. I've never put tap water in my tank.

For my auto top off, I just use a gravity feed with float valve. Cheap and simple

yeah, this thread makes more sense as "the best gadget you bought for your system(s). I wouldn't trade my Deltec skimmer for anything, but it just does its thing, while I thank my lucky stars every time i fill my autotopoff tank (once a week vs. daily before it) or play w/ my Reefkeeper 2. Those two gadgets make this hobby TONS more relaxing and fun.

If I can create a pocket universe inside of my stand somehow, where there is more space in it than shows from the outside, then I would love to get a calcium reactor next. But I don't think I can fit it w/ the CO2 tank in my stand. :(

lol, nothing. thought of organs or body parts that are nasty and thats the first thing that came to my mind for some reason.

nothing meant by it J =0) There's always two sides to everything. didn;t want the people who like anuses to feel left out or biased :biglaugh:

Think the thing i am most happy about is desciding to build my own tank, even though its not up and running yet. Nothing better than complete customization. You can't get any better than that.

These purchases are all the best thing that you've done for yourselves or for your time. The question I asked was what was the best thing that you've purchased for your reef? :)

IE which item was most beneficial to your reef animals.

You guys are seriously placing a doser as your most valued piece of reef equipment?
Yes.
I was adding 100 ml doses of each part of Randy 2 part, 3 times per day. My Aquamedic (even though I had to make improvements to it) doses small amounts constantly throughout the day and my growth has increased quite a bit. It's not just the manual labor. It's the stability of constant small additions compared to heavy doses. There are benefits to dosers other than manual labor.
Anyway, I'm not going to say that the doser was a "best purchase". There are so many things. Sorry Fred, but this is a stupid question which has already been asked a million times and it always ends the same way. One man's trash is another's treasure. Then again, my bad, there is no such thing as a stupid question... only stupid people. (Fred, you know I don't mean that. It was just too easy... I'm sorry:().
When you have your 7+ pound screaming/sh1tting monster in the house, not having to dose will feel really good.
Maybe a list of money well spent:
doser
ro/di
tunze
luminarcs
money poorly spent:
calcium reactor
ETSS Skimmer
magnetic MH ballasts
Zoo Med Power Sweeps
