Hey guys, use to be all over this site when I had my tank running but I been out the hobby about 8 months due to center brace giving way :/

I've been watching brs's YouTube channel and there doing a 52 week 160 build and mannnnn do I wanna buy a tank haha.

But I'm at the age of buying a house. So I'm just doing some early research. Was wondering if anyone has a fish room in there house... Or like sump is in other room and not under tank.
Def in a new house I want a tank but want it easier to work with haha. Share some photos if you can :D

Mr saltwater tank on YouTube has a awsome fish room setup! Def taking notes hhaaha

My fish room is in my basement. 125 gallon sump and 75 gallon fuge. It's nice to have everything there even though it can be a pain sometimes. Having to go downstairs to do any and everything equipment related. It could be much more organized which I plan on doing once it gets warm. And sometimes I have temp changes but other than that I love it

I would love to have a designated area let alone an actual fish room. If your in market for a house keep that in mind as you are shopping. Could be a good negotiating point if your buying house with someone

Just be sure that you plan adequate ventilation if you plan to have a fish room. While it's a nice to isolate all the noisy equipment and sumps and have easy access to water changes, without proper ventilation you can end up with mold issues, rust if you have tools or HVAC systems within the room etc.

yup,and lack of fresh air can make the tank suffer in many ways, including higher co2, and reduced skimmate production. A bigger stronger return pump will be needed, with that added heat brings you closer to needing a chiller. Plus alot of basements aren't climate controlled, so again maybe a chiller, or tank heater on more.

My basement! I've never done a tank thread but by the summer I will be changing tanks and there most likely will be some new pipes going thru these walls ....

very surprised to see some of you do haha.. i like the basement idea, but i think ima lean towards a behind the wall of the back side of tank kinda route lol. kinda like the BRS 160 tank build is going right now.

working on my 125, always on my knees to clean the skimmer and wipe algea off glass was a pain... but well worth it for the hobby haha.

for the person with the fish room in basement.... you must have some powerful return pump haha.

and this future tank i wold def have it plumped with pvc and such... might invest in clear pvc haha

post pics of your fish rooms people!

i had my sump, fuge, reactors and top off in basement, and it was a pleasure doing maintenance standing up. or syphoning sump for water changes.
like mentioned you need good ventilation. i didnt and had mold in the attic.
i would stay away from clear pvc, because it will grow algae if theirs light.
you can paint the outside of reg pvc any color you desire.

Freaking beautiful! O man monster setup
I'm always envious of people that are able to run more than 1 tank off 1 tank filter!

Quick question... The water holding tanks... As far as like the mixed salt tank... Do you mix salt like day before? Or is that tank constantly mixing salt and such? Your setup looks like you don't even have to shut off pumps and such doing water changes... You got the mixing container going right into sump return.. Awsome man thanks

True true! Good info

I never did pvc... But does algae grow within pvc? Like do you have to swap out pvc say like after a few years?

On my 125 I had clear vinyl from return pump to tank and I noticed coralline and green algae grew in it... Prob effected flow

Very cool! Huge sump for a 110 no? But love it man! I like the fuge and hay seperate tank... Really awsome !
Thanks! It supports a total of 205 gallons of display tanks. 3 tanks attached to it., but I am upgrading the display tank to a 225. I built it with the upgrade in mind. I will have a total of 400 gallons plus sump and fuge by spring.
