I had recently been having trouble with my skimmer overflowing because I just moved and it's a very sensitive unit. Any little change in water chemistry can set it off however it does do a really good job keeping the water clean. I had been researching different things and new skimmers but really didn't have the money for anything out there until I came across the Zaya SOS (skimmer overflowing stopper) at 50.00 it was worth trying out. Basically it's a control unit with two sensors. One goes in the skimmer cup to keep an eye on the skimate level and the other goes in the sump skimmer area to monitor water height. These aren't float switches they're contacts held in place by fairly strong magnets. It took me all of about 10 min to set it up and so far it works flawlessly. You can set the control to turn the skimmer for at intervals between 10 min and 3 days but it will clear once the water level goes back down. This is great for me because I turn off my pumps when I feed every time I turn everything back on it takes a while for the level to go back down and my skimmer would always overflow a bit. Anyway now I don't have to worry about skimate pouring into my 50 gallon cube while I'm at work for 10 hours.
