This common core math is for the birds. I can't for the life of me come up with anything remotely close to "93% practically dead".

Number of reefs Not bleached: 1% of 522 + 10% of 226 + 25% of 163 = 68
Total number of reefs survey: 552 + 226 + 163 = 991

Percent of reefs not bleached: 68 / 991 = .07 or 7%

So percent or reefs bleached is given by 100% - 7% or 93%

522 surveyed with 81% severely bleached = 422 severely bleached

226 surveyed with 33% severely bleached = 75 severely bleached

163 surveyed with 1% severely bleached = 2 severely bleached

911 total survey with 499 severely bleached = 55% severely bleached

No mention of any severity of bleaching between severely bleached 55% and not bleached. To assume the middle segment, not discussed is practically dead is quite the manipulation of data.

Is the GBR totally healthy? Not by a long shot. But let's not skew the facts to make it sound worse.
