I have been doing weeks of research on LED lighting for my 180. From what I can see there are many factirs, such as what type of leds used such as bridgelux or cree. There is also the factor of the type of heat sibks used to dissipate heat such as aluminum fins or aluminum plates as well as the types and amounts of cooling fans used. You also have the amount of watts piwer supplies use to get your true total wattage. Lets not forget par values and most importantly pur values. You also need controlability for sunrise, sunset, moon phases and cliody and thunderstorm settings if you want that. Wireless controls can be a nice added feature. As for the chinese black boxes, you want to go with one which is higher quality and offers a 2 year USA warranty. This is what I came up with so far:
Evergrow IT2081 32" for $449.99 with 2 year warranty
Sbox Pro 32 363 watt with timer for $325
Sbox Extreme 32 363 watt with Apple or Android control for $429
Photon 32 for $450 or the Photon 32 V-2 for $575
Keep in mind I will need 2 of these units to cover the spread on a 72" aquarium leaving 4" of non direct coverage on each side which is fine.
Anyone own any of these units or heard anything about them?
There should be a LED section under general discussion
