Problem with that is that if it is not connected to the internet how would it alert you? You might be able to set something like that up on your computer. However even if not connected to the internet your Apex will continue to function as programmed you only wont be able to control it remotely or receive alerts until reconnected.

Hey dave
So i want to set something up to constantly ping it and if it fails then it would alert me
that tells me either the wifi is down or the power is down

Set your apex to port forward through your router so its like a website
Then sign up for an uptime monitor (they use these to track if a website goes down to alert the admins of a business)
It'll ping your apex once every 1 / 5 / 30 minutes depending on the service
There are free uptime sites with limits, or you can pay for a more reliable one
