I'm looking to start my next aquarium after finally settling in our new home. I would love to have the aquarium on the first floor of the house. But I would need to properly reinforce the floor underneath the aquarium. I'm curious to know and see how other with aquarium in excess of 200 gallons. Ideally the smallest I want to go is about 240 gallons 48 Inches width and 48 inches in depth.

There are many ways to support your tank. First you need a few things answered.
1. Size of tank?
2. Size of floor joists?
3. Distance that they span?

Once you have that info, you can decide if you want to:
1. sister existing floor joists if big enough and not too big of a span.
2. Install a header under floor joists near area of tank. This reducing the amount of span that you are placing on the joists.
My cell number is (631) 872-7238 if I need to explain it better. Good luck w the new build. Chris.
