Hi,
I've been out of the loop for a while and I'm in the process of revamping my whole set up.Almost finished with re cycling.
I plan to grow chaeto in my refugium in an area of about 6x16x14.
In the past I've used a 6500k cfl flood light.so so results.
Any recommendations on an led equivalent?
Been reading too much on the topic and not sure what to get.
Also at what point should I introduce Chaeto to system?Im thinking just after initial cycle completes.
Thanks in advance.
.

I use T5 HO (2.700 K) for Chaeto you need High PAR and 2.700 K , in my opinion.

Buy the Mars Hydro. You won't regret it. I've had everything and these hands down are the best and long lasting. I have a huge grocery bag full every month.

Not sure , how big is your tank ? the space you post , may be to small, to help you , to reduce the PO4 you wish , one thing is sure, Chatto love High PAR light intensity (i run 4 , 2.700 K HO T5) Chatto love water flow, love space, i remove 1/2 of 30 Gal. garbage pal every months.

My tank is 240g which measures 96x24x24.The sump holds about 60g and is at 50g running. The refugium you can see is 6x16x14.System is up and running for only about 1 1/2 months,so Im not expecting any growth.

The Mars Hydro looks very promising but too much power consumption.

wow, love that size (96x24x24)
i got 72x34x 31, anything over 28" high is pain to clean.
My personal goal was to make a system that work by him self , not sure for ....how long.

In order to reduce the PO4 and Nitrate natural , Chaetto or Algae Scrubber both have some Pro or Cons.

Chaetto High Intensity light , for best grow.
Space,....... in order to see real drop on PO4
Love flow .........need extra ump (12-15 W )
Almost free maintenance , just trim.
In my case 4x54 w for 16 hrs.

Algae Scrubber Not powerful Light need
Less space compare to Chatto (4 x less)
Need good pump (60w) to feed 3-4 sheets of plastic.
Need to be clean (NOT a pleasure )

Algae Scrubber 6 Lights (LEDs) x 30w + 60W pump for 16 hrs.

both cost almost same.

What i try to say, in order to really see a good drop on PO4 and Nitrate for your tank, you need to grow a way more then that space you have.
